Slow and Steady Wins the Race

There are some mornings I wake up and think “oh, it’s going to be a slow cooker kind of day”. Maybe it’s predicted to be a summer scorcher and the  thought of slaving over a hot stove after five brings tears to your eyes. Or maybe, the plan is to have a afternoon cocktail on the porch instead of cooking. Either way, prepping for dinner in the morning is why the slow cooker was invented. Whether it’s an InstaPot, a Crock Pot or a Hot Pot, Smokin’ Mary Bloody Mary Mix is here with a tried and true simmer sauce for those days you need someone else to do the cooking. The recipe below is for chicken, but don’t be afraid to try other lean meats with this kicked up sweet and spicy concoction.

People are going to think you slaved all day in the kitchen…..

Smokin’ Mary Kickin’ Honey Garlic ‘Slowcooker’

  • 4-6  chicken thighs
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup of Smokin’ Mary mix
  • 1 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes

Place chicken in bottom of slow cooker.
In a medium bowl mix rest of ingredients, then pour over the chicken
Cook low for 4-5 hours, check if done in 4 hours (chicken temp 165degrees)

Serve over rice or quinoa, use remaining sauce to pour over the top or as a garnish.
